    New Ranger 198P

I just purchased this 198P from Pro's Choice marine is Warsaw, MO this past weekend. It's the first new boat that I have ever owned and I'm looking forward to getting it out and put through its break in over the next couple of weeks. Those of you who own this same boat, please feel free to chime in on any advice or pointers to look out for. I haven't had it in the water yet due to the extreme cold we've had, but I did get it loaded up with all of my tackle. The storage is unbelievable compared to my old 18 foot 97 Skeeter.

So far I haven't found a dislike about the boat.....short of slipping off the fender and landing on my head the day I bought. Gave myself a concussion in the process haha.

Congratulations on the new ride! I don't have a 198 but a close friend does and he loves everything about it, especially that 150 4-stroke! It's funny, another friend of mine bought a new Ranger 518 last fall. The day he got it home he slipped and fell out of it and hit his head on his concrete driveway. Knocked him out, but he's okay now. Those Rangers must be slippery!

It will definitely be a fun year with this rig. One thing I've not been able to figure out is where to run the transducer cable from the transom to the console. On my last boat there was a gap I could fish the cable through, but on this thing I cant seem to find any sort of conduit or passage to feed the cable through.

If it is like an RT188, there are two wiring conduits under the cup holder above the throttle/shift lever. The top one goes to the transom and will contain the steering cable, while the lower goes into the bilge.

Looking good! I had fun getting out of my 188 a week or so ago after loading at the ramp by myself trying not to get wet and not slip on the tongue. I missed my "stripper pole" so much on my old Cats I ordered a Trick Step from Mark on Monday. It should be here next week.

Follow your break in and enjoy the new boat.
