    Columbus Lake

I have a tournament coming up on Columbus lake. I have only been on the lake once. Any tips or advice for fishing this lake?

If it looks like you can run thru an area on pad always let someone else go first.

It is a river with shallow water outside the banks of the river. A friend who has fished there since it was created ran his boat onto land under less than a foot of water. Took 2 boats to pull him off. No major damage to his boat, but his feelings were hurt a little. Run only in creeks and river unless you know it well. And then,he knew it well!

i had ran the butahatchie river 20-25 times in my life until one day I hit something where I had just came through. I swear it was a cross tie. I saw it for a second after I hit and looked back.

The best tourney I ever had their was in feb when the water was up and muddy. There was so much current in the river you would go backwards 2 mph when facing the current in idle.

I bet it is really muddy with all this rain. I fish Aberdeen a good bit and I know how it gets so I can only imagine even further south

Drove over the buttahatchie today on 45, the gravel pits are chocolate milk and have water flowing thru them. There’s a big plastic container floating around in one of them. Running to Caledonia in a full size bass boat is very possible given there aren’t any bridges to hit.

Hit Columbus yesterday afternoon for an hour.... like old saying goes “too thick to drink and too thin to plow”. Chocolate milk throughout the pits, did manage to stick a couple, one was really good.

Columbus is going to fish very small for the ABA in a couple weeks... won’t get a chance to clear with all the rain that is forecast between now and then.

Seems to be the case more and more, y’all enjoy it! I’ll be on the lake during the week when I can and at the house on Saturdays. It’s a freaking mad house on every lake any given Saturday.
