    Balzout Mount On Eyra

My front 12” Helix has a RAM mount, don’t think it is reinforced with washers/nuts. Dealer installed the Helix units. My plan was to just take the screws out of the RAM mount and replace it with the Balzout. I’ve ready different opinions and some highly suggest cutting a hole underneath the trolling motor pedal and using washers, nuts to reinforce the mount. Where’s a place to buy a cover for the 4” hole if I go that route? I hate to cut a 4” hole but will if absolutely necessary, opinions?

My 2018 Eyra and my 2015 P2 have 6" access covers under the TM pedal. The P2 had a RAM mount with an 859 unit and could never hold it up in rough water. My Eyra has the Balzout with a 9" arm holding a Helix 10 and it's rock solid. I highly suggest the Balzout mount system ! I'm going to change to the 6" arm just to tuck the graph unit in a bit more.

Thanks, the Balzout is arriving today and going to mount it before the weekend. The RAM mount keeps falling down and has scratched the gel coat in the recessed area so I’ll be glad to use the Balzout.

Done by the factory. Great for accessing wiring also. Was very handy when I run some wire for lighting to my storage areas and mounted my Ultrex heading sensor.

I have never been able to get a Ram mount hold up a unit either and I bought the big bad ones still don’t hold up in rough water.

Thanks for the photo. For now I just installed it with the screws from the RAM mount. Going to buy a hole saw I guess and cut an access hole to add the washers and nuts to reinforce it. I’ll also order a cover from Bass Cat. It seems rock solid with just the screws though, I can’t imagine them pulling out. It’s so solid the entire boat moves when I grab the bottom of the mount but with the weight and rough Conroe water I’d rather be on the safe side.

10-4. Get the 6" cover from BassCat and regardless of the mount you buy, attach it with flat washers and locknuts on the underside !!!

Bought a 4” hole saw yesterday and will cut the hole soon. Son has a high school tournament tomorrow and headed out of town today. I just mounted it with the 4 screws the RAM mount used, they all lined up, for the weekend. It’s very solid but know the reinforcement will be better. Love the Balzout mount thoug, very easy to adjust, and a very solid mount.
