Ultrex shaft length on 99 203

I'm waiting to put a Ultrex on my 99 203 and I have 52 inch maximum right now. I am wondering if a 45 inch Ultrex will work for my boat thanks

I know the 52- 60" mounts are bigger than the 45" so not sure if the bolt pattern would be the same.
I just replaced a fortex 45" with the 45" ultrex, same mount almost, bolts right in. Ive had it in some good wind and chop and it held fine.
The height and the head are a lil bit bigger so kind of tight with the boat cover.

Thx I'm not worried about my boat cover just that 203 sits low in the water and the motor will come out of the water with a little bit of wind chop

I have a 80lb. 52"Shaft on my 201 CHAMPION and a 112lb. 52"Shaft on 221 CHAMPION .Never had a problem in really rough water.I recommend 52"Shaft if your not worried about a cover.

I agree with others; 52 inch as a minimum. I have a 52 inch MG on my 1998 203 and it works very well except in 2-3 footers. Then it will definitely come out of the water. I do my best not to fish in that type of water though so the 52 works for me.

Get the 52" I have a 45" Ulterra on my 202 and if I walk to the back the prop will surface.

I have a new to me 2000 203 with a 45" Fortrex. I haven't noticed any issues with the prop coming out of the water. The bow sits higher than any boat I've ever had with that rear gas tank. I am also thinking of upgrading to an Ultrex, so I have the same question. I'd like to stick with the 45" if I can get away with it. I fish really shallow more often than I fish in waves, so I'd rather not have to lift the trolling motor up so the head is sticking up high. I'm not sure if the Ultrex can be slammed as low as my Fortrex though. The Ultrex seems to have a lot more going on with the steering at the top.

The ULTREX can be pushed all the way down to the bottom of the head The only thing is the shaft clamp that allows the depth adjustment takes up about 1.5".

Thanks. I'm going to take the boat out this weekend and raise the 45" fortrex about 1.5", and see what happens. Maybe I can find a bit of chop.

45" is wayyy to short for a 203. Your gonna want atleast a 52".
