    Changing the color of braid

I bought two spools of braid and didn't notice the color. I can't return them because all sales were final. Is there any way to dye the whole spool? The color is yellow and i would like to change to green or black. Short of using a sharpie style pen and doing the whole spool that way.

Just use the sharpie on the first 10-20 feet of line

I always used green moss but I am starting to buy white or yellow and I use a Fitzgerald braid marker on the first 3 or 4 feet.

If nothing else use it for backing on all your floro/mono rigs. I but the cheap Chinese braid on eBay for that very thing

I use high vis yellow on all my spinning set ups. I found its been fantastic in detecting light visual strikes. I thought it would be noticeable in clear water, but with my fluoro leader it never comes close to the bait anyways. I use red on my pitching set ups for the same reason. Its much easier to see line movement than with green. Just my 0.2

Use a jumbo sharpie and split the tip with a razor blade. You just run the braid through the slot and it takes seconds to get a few feet colored.

When I first started using braid years ago I used a marker on the last 10 feet or so. Seems like they made markers just for it. It seemed to work ok back then.

As far as I'm concerned the price of a Sharpie™ is splurging. I could probably get away w/the straight Yellow in the stained waters around here..

Sharpie Magnum as johnnybass described. All I’ve used for years. Works as well as anything else you’ll find.

I would just use the yellow and put a two arms length leader on it.
If you are drop shotting or shakey head fishing, you can really see the color a lot better than green or dark colors.
I have seen a lot of pros using yellow for this very reason.
Or use it for backing for sure.

This. I've described it in other threads recently, but I ended up with a spool of 50 lb Seaguar Smackdown in bright yellow without realizing it was yellow for what I assume is the same reason as the OP (found it in the Bargain Bin). Spooled it up on a flipping rod and tacked on a leader. Turns out it was a good mistaken purchase! I'd been using leader on low-vis braid for flipping with great results, but found going to a high-vis variant kept those great results of before while adding in a lot of the benefits we get from using high-vis braid on spinning rods.

most of the guides here use yellow braid with a leader. Easier for rookies to see bites

If you want to change the color get some Spike-It Markers. They dye won't break down the material of the braid (which some of the compounds in other permanent markers might do) and it has the benefit of scent to mark the smell of the dye which other markers won't do.

I have two spinning rods for my almost non-fishing buddies that are rigged with orange braid so they can see the hits.
