    Contemplating purchasing a '98 Nitro 912 Savage

    Greetings Nitro Owners,

I'm looking to upgrade to a bigger and faster boat that isn't going to break the bank, and the price seems right on a 98 savage. It comes rigged to fish tournaments, which is a huge buying point for me. Power Poles, 225 Opti, HDS units, and a 36v troller.

Anyways, I know Nitro used wood in the transoms, stringers of this model. And I want a boat that I can have for a long time, possibly just re-powering when necessary. Is this something I should worry about? I want something that has 10 years of life in it. If a rotten transom is on the horizon, then I'm going to save my pennies and look for a ranger or Skeeter that I know has a composite transom.

    Thanks for your time!
