    Dental Ins

Wife and I getting up in age and need a lot of dental work. I think for now if you can get FEBBLUE Dental looks like the best bang for the money. One dentist wanted $24,000 for wife's implants. Medical would cover $6,000 and out of network would cover $3,000. I got the high option which has unlimited max per person for class a, b, and c. with no waiting period. Going to another dentist Monday that is in network and see what he cost is. Still gets to me that the Congress took away free dental for vets and family. Remember reenlisting in the 70's and told free dental and health care for the rest of my life. Will update Monday evening after getting the price. Hope this post helps someone that is in the same boat as us.

Well didn't go as planned. In network and still had to pay $60.00 each for wife and I. Recommended that we go to general dentist to come up with plan on which teeth to pull. Wife said waste of time today. My treatment plan is for root recovery $296.00 and nitrous oxide $79.00 dollars before insurance. Doc also wrote out RX for pain and I told her I would call for date for removal. I know granddaughter is going to be upset if I get my front missing tooth fixed before her front tooth comes back in. She told grandma that we look alike with front tooth missing. Granddaughter has spent a lot of hours looking for my front tooth in the front yard. Was cutting grass and thought bug went into mouth, spite and I went inside to look in mirror and noticed tooth missing. Went back outside and bunch of birds close to where I spite out tooth, as far as I know tooth could be somewhere south or north of here. Will start in morning looking for good dentist I hope.

Dental is expensive. I wish my teeth would hold out but the local dentist doesn't think they will and has referred me to a specialist for a root canal repair. Unless it hurts, I'm not going. We have Delta Dental and it covers practically nothing. Good luck and if you sort something out, post it.

My dentist wanted $1800 or a root canal and cap on a big back molar. Went to an oral surgeon and had it yanked last week for $400. Already missing 6 teeth. What's one more.

Same here........and the funny part is.............

Retired Dental is thru Delta Dental. It was costing me $70/mo for my daughter & I only.

I went thru the company I work for now, which is also Delta Dental, and it cost me $10/mo for both of us, and the coverage is slightly better too !!

You don't want the VA Dentists working on your teeth...They are absolutely horrible...We 100% disabled Veterans get "free" dental care. However, I'm told that the Federal prisoners receive better dental care than we do...At the Leavenworth VAMC they have one and sometimes no dentists...In the Eastern Kansas Healthcare system a Veteran has to wait between 2 and four months to see a dentist...Then they act like they are doing you a favor.
At the Temple, Texas VAMC, a 100% disabled veteran can be seen in 30 to 60 days. They have some Dentists that know what they are doing but, their hands are tied and are not able to give you the treatment you need do to the Bureaucratic regulations handed down from VA Headquarters...Federal prisoners, as I have been told by VAMC Dentists, get far better dental treatment than Veterans do.

I'm hoping I am wrong on this one as I got told today I am going to need two crowns in the next year or so. But, it appears retiree dental plans are getting ready to change. The big change is we're getting thrown in with FERS and the rates are likely going to double. My dental office told me to try and stay with Delta.

With current Delta each crown will cost me about 340.00 without a root canal at my local provider.

Just went thru this nightmare !! Searched and searched for something affordable and REASONABLE !! Finally settled on DeltaCare USA. Sold thru Costco, , but AARP too and maybe others. I paid $ 89/yr !! That's right, per year !! Unlimited use, reasonable co-pays, no Implants tho. I had a root canal and crown, $1250. Cleaning $20. Office visit $20. Many free services. Not the greatest, but far better than most !!
