Front Deck extension on 2017 H22 bay

Has anyone ever seen or made a front deck extension for an H22 bay? I’ve seen some extensions on the older bass rigs but never on a bay model. I’d like to close in some of the hole between the rod boxes on my 2017 model to make the front deck just a little larger but am going back and forth on how to attach and brace the extension.

you will find more help from guys who fabricate metal in your area than you will
guys who type words on a keyboard usually. get some lumber mock up something
see what it looks like then see if they can make something that will look good.

I plan on building it myself as I have an aluminum welder. I have a couple of ideas but was curious if anyone else on here had done one before. Never hurts to compare designs.

I would think it would be a relatively straightforward process. Grind the finish coating off, weld bracing to each rod box, cover with either 0.100” or 0.125” sheet. No idea about matching the finish, good luck. Suggest contacting R and R Fabrication in Terrell to make you some aluminum hatches.

Finally, post your project and lots of pics here.

Ok I’ve got an idea in the works. It involves a factory storage box with some homemade bracing. Will be an easy install I believe with minimal disruption of what’s already there. I’ll keep everyone once I get finished product pictures .

Planning on getting a box built at xpress specifically for the h22 bay. Instead of mounting it to the floor like in the picture attached I am going to build a stand for it to sit on that elevates it to the same level as the rest of the front deck. Should be perfect

I like that extra space on my H22 Bay. Its good for two large ice chests or other gear. I put an artic ice chest against the compartment, and it gives another person more room to stand when fishing on the deck with me.

Got everything fabricated and primed today. Once I get the frame painted and Installed I’ll take pictures and post em. Think it’s going to work out well and get some bonus DRY storage as well!!

I feel your pain. Takes me an hour or so to do it. Couldn't even begin to tell you how. Maybe someone has a simple way.
