LED Strip Adhesive

I bought a couple rolls of LED light strips from Amazon to install on my boat. Planning to install them on the side of the gunnels maybe a half inch up from the carpet. The reviews show that the adhesive on these LEDs is pretty good but I have been looking around for a product that I could use like a double sided tape that would hold good and not mess up my gel coat if I ever wanted to remove the LED Strips. Does anyone know of a double sided tape/adhesive strip that will not damage gel coat/make a huge mess to remove?

I used 3M. Picked it up at Auto Zone. Also, on that Amazon strip light, once you put it in contact, DO NOT pull it up to adjust it. The circuit is so thin it will break and you can't fix it.
