    Big O versus Kissimmee Vegetation

FLW last weekend the guys were talking about the hurricane rearranging the vegetation on Okeechobee. Is this true for Kissimmee as well. Headed down in March

    Thanks Darryl

The issue with the vegetation IS NOT ANY HURRICANE. IT IS FWC SPRAY BOATS!

Huge difference in kissimme. Lilly pad roots and tree tops sitting all over and pig trail is obliterated. I’m just spent 4 days there and fishing is good but the terrain has changed in a lot of areas.

A handful of guys pounded a few small community holes. It didn't show anything about the state of the lake. Look at Brandon mcmillians interviews after

It really has only a little to do with the hurricane and even less to do with the spray boats. The lake is far more decimated by EXCESSIVE high water for extended periods. Hurricane wasn’t a direct hit and if the water was at a proper level, the hurricane brushing by would have had little effect. High water exponentially made the hurricanes effect worse.

The west and northern sides of both lakes were changed dramatically by the Hurricane Irma, no doubt about it (as the primary winds came NE, to E, then SE). Anything that wasn't anchored to the bottom in Grassy island and Philadelphia Point was blown to pieces. It's a huge area of very scattered cover. Should be a tremendous spawning pattern/bite that will be subject to March winds.

Much of the southern and eastern sides, at least of Kissimmee, looks very similar to pre Hurricane. Pig Trail is clogged by large floating muck islands (bigger than an acre, way bigger than what normally floats around) and I wouldn't hazzard to even guess when or if it opens again, or if it opens up if it's not in a new path.

I thought the water was very low leading up to the hurricane?

Lake Kissimmee was at its lowest point in ten years in May but we had heavy rains this summer prior to the hurricane which put it above normal summer levels.

Okeechobee rose almost 4' after the hurricane.
