Nice looking fish! Sounds like a great day on the water.

Thanks for the honest feedback too. It is good to hear the impressions of someone who has used multiple brands.

Thank you Robert. Your review sold me as I was considering either Solix birds or Axioms on my new rig. I picked up a 9" RV from Cabelas and have been playing with it in sim mode. The speed of manipulation is impressive. Have a 12" Pro on order to complement via networking. Hope the on water experience is equal.

Keep me posted. I’ll be traveling WI later this Spring - maybe we can spend a few hours on the water going over everything.

Let me know if you have any questions.

The Axiom Pro is very tempting to me, but no local installation or representation up here in Minnesota. How many transducers does the Axiom use with 3D? Does it read depth while on plane?

    One transducer!
Any marine electronic installer should be able to do it.

    Corrected, Thanks Curt!

    Where in MN?

Axiom Pro has an RV-100 transducer port and a 1kW sonar port - Axiom Pro doesn't need a "Y" cable.

Kaiser, I think reading on plane is determined by how you mount the transducer. I have a Triton LTS 220 with the transducer mounted under the step and it reads wide open (45+ mph).

Would love to see some side by side comparison shots of the Axion side image to the HB mega side image taken at the same time.

I would also like to see some side by side images..I think Robert mentioned "his type of fishing"..In my opinion this is the KEY to being happy with his setup.
I am a 100% crappie fisherman that fishes waters down to 30'..I am not brand loyal..I have used HB, Low, Garmin(Panoptix) & very limited use of Raymarine which my nephew swears by.
I presently am using Lowrance as I have not found any reason to change..Mega is great, but 2D is awful & I depend on 2D & DI a lot.
I have the latest Lowrance(Carbon) & truthfully I have not seen improvement in Lowrance units since my Gen2 Touch units. Until I see Lowrance or any other units than can suit my style of fishing, I will continue with Lowrance.
I am posting an image that shows me what I need to see in "my style of fishing" It has nothing to do with my units are better than yours..It has all to do with getting to best results out of the units you use. This image is from the Gen2 Touch & I can do "NO" better with my Carbon.
Thanks Robert for your posts & honest opinion..

Mega will be clearer / crisper - it’s math, physics or whatever...higher frequencies will have better resolution at shallower depths and slower speeds.

    That said, what’s important...
    * Warranty 1, 2 or 3 years
    * Processor speed - Quad Core or Dual Core
    * Product support up to software v.19 and 5+ years or obsolete sooner
    * Multi family networkability or limited
    * extra transducers and modules or clean all in one

and the list goes on and on...

IMO, guys who know what they are doing can use anything - guys that can’t couldn’t tell a shad ball from a humpback whale if their life depended on it.

Thanks Jig34, that tells me what I really need to know but I would still like to see some comparison shots between the different units. Yes some people can still use a basic flasher and do fine but I need to see more.

Exactly, that's why I said get the best you can out of your sets before jumping.

Great shot Don. I see very few actual pictures here from Raymarine units. All the stuff mentioned about the advantages of Raymarine units sound nice but really want to see images from different units in different situations to help judge the on the water performance.
