    Question Steering boat in reverse

This is going to sound silly, but I am having trouble steering my 2004 201XL in reverse. Instead of turning it usually it goes straight back when I have the motor turned, and it makes it impossible to maneuver around docks and ramps sometimes. Is there a trick I need to learn about this? Thanks.

Try leveling your motor, and it takes a little more throttle to maneuver backwards. Good luck, good fishing !!

In reverse, you're basically trying to back up a giant block of fiberglass by pulling it. Level the engine, or tuck it under a bit and allow yourself plenty of room.

Steer in opposite direction than you want the bow to swing....IE..steer left to swing bow right.

my bass boat wont change direction even when the motor is cranked, only think to help my boat out is have a passenger go up front to get the keel back in the water, my walleye boats backed up and turned just fine but not my bass boat

Depends on the boat, i have owned several bass boats by different brands over the years. Some where as easy to dock both in forward and reverse as a car. One in particular would go where ever IT wanted no matter what i did. Was kind of embarrassing around the docks, looked like i had never been in a boat before!

My boat seems to steer better with motor tilted up.
