    CARPET PADDING

A friend is replacing his carpet and wonders how the new type padding dry's as he has to keep his boat outside. I would think it would take longer.. Pros and cons?? Thanks

I store at the state park boat yard on the Potomac with a boat cover and a $40 Lowes silver tarp over that with strategic bungey placement. New tarp about every 18-20 months. Dry as a bone for the last 17 years through some horrendous storms with really high winds..

I don't think the padding holds water. At least mine doesn't seem to. Dry time seems to be the same to me. It should be marine grade closed cell. Also, theres no way in hell I'm leaving my boat outside uncovered unless its while I am traveling. Even then I have a travel cover for it when I stop somewhere over night. A simple tarp will hold moisture and encourage mildew.
