Ruger is now selling a 9mm carbine. It's a cool looking gun, but I can't for the life of me think of a good reason for it.

Cheaper and prob quieter to shoot than similar rifle caliber is one reason. Maybe not a great reason but it will certainly appeal to some. Similar to an AR9 (AR platform that shoots 9mm) so you can practice with your AR but cheaper than running .223
Its prob still very accurate out a 100 yrds or more so would prob make a good varmit gun too

I can imagine it being nice for livestock owners in cougar country.

I would love to have an old Ruger 44 mag carbine rifle. I hunt some with my Colt Anaconda and would like to be able to carry a rifle in the same cal. I never hunt with just the pistol due to several bears in the area I hunt and there's no way to stay on a deer that's running with the pistol.
Many military’s around the world uses pistol caliber carbine.
MP-5, Thompson Mechine Gun, Uzi, P90, And lever action rifles all the way back into the 1800’s
Smaller guns, cheaper to shoot, more punch than a pistol, and not going to travel thru a house and into the neighborhood.
Good for inner city and populated areas.
Wish they would bring back the 44 magnum carbine they used to make in the 60's. My dad had one and out of all the guns he had when he passed away that was the one rifle I could not find in his collection. I loved that gun for hog hunting.
Because somebody will buy it.

People buy them because that are fun to shoot, bad azz looking and not expensive to shoot being 9mm. Love my CZ scorpion pistol caliber carbine. It is hard to put down and while I am shooting 100 times the guy next to me with the 308 is shooting 3 or 4 times or the man on other side with his 6.5 creedmore has shot twice.
I bought me one of the ol' Ruger 44 carbines this last Summer when I found one at the LGS. PaPaw had one when I was growing up, but unfortunately that was the gun my nephew ended up with. I had to settle for his Belgium Browning (60's model) 22 automatic.
I hang out on the 24 hr. Campfire and many of those guys love carrying rifles and handguns that use the same ammunition. From a self-defense standpoint it makes sense to me. You only have to carry 1 kind of ammo and no getting it mixed up when having to load in a hurry. I realize that most of us will never need that (I hope) benefit, but it is there if we do.
This. Only thing to add is that it’s way less muzzle flash and report than an AR if it’ll be used inside, i.e. home defense. Travel around Europe and virtually all of the city and airport militarized police carry mp5’s because they don’t want bullets going through walls, indoor muzzle flash, etc.

I would love to find a Ruger in .44 mag. For deer drIves
You can lead a horticulture,
but you can't make her think.
I've always wanted a 10/44 for no particular reason at all. I would take a highpoint carbine in 10mm.
i have a hipoint 9mm carbine --that thing is sweet. A blast to shoot and never an issue of any kind with it .
