    High accuracy puck

I have a Helix with the internal antenna (I assume). Lowrance has the Point 1. Does Humminbird have an equivalent?

I need to be very accurate.

    Thanks.

Thanks. No advantage to the GRP?

Also, do the pucks connect directly to the unit or do I need an NMEA type setup?

    Thanks for the quick response.

connection depends on what unit you have. if you have a solix and a nmea network you can use the point 1 if you already have one. You can use any nmea heading sensor with the solix. I'm using an airmar h2183

I added the GPS/compass puck to my Helix 12Si. I mounted it on the transom above my transducer to get more accurate locations when setting waypoints versus the internal GPS which is located at my console. All I had to do was plug it into the back of my Helix12.
I am not sure exactly how accurate it is (+/- ??ft) but I am able to easily find and anchor over crappie condos and other waypointed structure without a lot of searching.

Somewhere I read that GPS is the one thing that can be used outside of the NMEA views on the Helix.
Not really certain as I've always had the AS GPS HS connected prior to installing an NMEA2k with a Point 1.

The details can be found in the NMEA 2000 module installation and operations manual. Page 23.

    Point 1 works with Humminbird?

Someone told me garmin makes the point 1 for lowrance and they have their own labeled version. Makes sense that they’d work through the nema network.

Not to high-jack the thread.. just want to make sure I understand completely myself. If I bought the Humminbird AS GPS HS puck, it will plug directly into my Helix 12 without a nmea network?

    Hi All,
I'm coming from Lowrance and have the NMEA 2000 Network setup already. Can I use that same network setup along with my point 1 antenna and just add in my Solix Units and my Ultrex into the network?

    Thanks

Correct, it has its own slot in the cable collector

Billspense, Since you don't have a solix.... There is literally no difference in the accuracy of the point 1 and the AS GPS HS. Since the connector plugs directly into the Helix without any network the HB gps is the way to go. Unless you already own a point 1, there is no advantage to using it. IMHO Bob

    Yes

I’m using my garmin nmea network and an airmar puck. You will still need the ultrex heading sensor though.
