best ramp for my trail tourney at smith mountain.

good morning folks. my trail, Southern WV Anglers Trail (S.W.A.T.) is having an open event the middle of march (day after AC event) and I was wondering what ramp you would recommend besides the state park. I have heard oak grove is nice but very steep and a long walk and heard there is also a ramp at the bridge hales ford public ramp. some have said this one is nice and others have said its no good. ive only launched at the state park and parkway marina, but either of the two ramps above would cut some drive time off. I would be expecting 25 boats plus whomever locals decide to get in.

thanks for looking and tight lines.

I've used Hales Ford several times without issue but parking is limited.

15 paved spots maybe? It's been a few years since I've been to SML. There is over flow parking in the grass but the place is most always full if the weather is decent. Not sure where you could stage weigh in either.

Like I said it's been a while so maybe someone else can chime in.

Oak Grove without a doubt. Plenty of parking and a good, wide ramp with docks on both sides that extend out. The walk back up the hill is not that bad, send your co-angler to get the truck.

Oak Grove is ideal......... if it was flat. That hill sucks and it can be a mess trying to weigh fish. If you can catch someone pulling out and ask for a ride up the hill, it is not that bad honestly. Parkway is still be venue for tournaments in my opinion.
