    Charger 395

Trying to get my boat dialed in before first tourney. 01 395 with a 225 vmax ox66. Running a 25 tempest. Running at 3" below pad. 22 lbs water pressure. Running the electric carter low press fuel pump. Just cleaned my vst filter. No specks or white film now. Only turning around 5600 with me and my fat buddy and a light gas tank. Maybe 1/4 tank. My question is, those of you that may have owned this setup what did it like to really stretch it out? Would a shock treatment of ring free help? Currently have the lower off changing all seals and impeller. Going to do plugs also. Thinking about switching to br8hs10 instead of the br9's they recommend after reading up on it. I think an injector cleaning would help a lot. But only getting 65 out of it. I think there is some left to be desired in this setup. Input anyone?

That motor should only turn 5600 at WOT.

Other post say though that the rev limiter kicks in at 6150. I've had it to 5800 before

I know plenty of guys say to run them higher but what does the rpm sticker say on the motor? Mine said something about being in the 5500-5600 range or at least that’s what I think it said. (Been a few years) you could raise your motor up some and possibly gain a few rpms, I think the water pressure is supposed to be about 15lbs min at WOT (again just going from my bad memory)

I would think 65 is on the very low end of expectations with that set up. Have you tried another prop just for comparison sake?

I had a 25m to start with and switched to the tempest. Not much of a difference. I'm thinking about dropping it to 3.5 and start from scratch on the jack plate. Go up from there

The OX66's are strong engines. I would try getting my hands on a 26P tempest to see how she does.

my 200efi mercs would pull 5900rpm at about 68mph with 25 tempest. with a 3.0l 225efi they would run 5900 at 70-72 gps speeds. 395tf is all i ran from 95' to 2000 had 7 of them, best boat they ever made

Trying to borrow a buddy's right now. Did kind of an extensive maintenance this year. Gonna see how it turns out

Yep Ive owned a 200hp OX66. Cleaned the o2 sensor, replaced the 3 low pressure fuel pumps, replaced fuel filter under cowl, plugs, thermostats, and I think that's it lol. Ran really good after that.
