    Johnson fast strike 150

Can some one tell me what these amber colored things are. It looks like I am missing one. Not sure what they are and would like to know if I need to replace them when I put the motor back together.

Those would be part of the recirculation system, check valves with a screen. Follow your OMC service manual for testing and replacement. The system was changed somewhat over the years, to be safe, you must have and follow the service manual for the 1992 motors. Maybe some other early year service manuals would work, but I'm not sure about that.

I am counting 12 of these check valves, does that sound right? 2 per cylinder and 6 per side. Not sure what exactly I am looking for here. This motor has not been apart since the rebuild in 2007 so why are these missing?

I believe that count is correct. I have no idea why some are missing, unless they were left out. Do you have the correct OMC service manual for your motor? I think on your motor these valves and screens can be removed and cleaned then installed again, you may not need to buy all new ones. ChampioNman will come along, he will know exactly how to help you.

    I have a manual for a 1992 if you don't have one.

Less trouble to just buy and replace all with new IMHO

I don't think on your motor these are really a check valve, more like a restrictive orifice. Not sure about that.
