    Nickajack

Would like to make a trip there this Spring and have never been. What's an average day like that time of year?Is it worth the trip if your just wanting to fish some new water.

If it's a one day trip, I would go to Chick. If more than that, maybe one or two days on Nickajack and balance on Chick. Right now is the best time for Nickajack. Potential for a 5 lb smallmouth below the Chick dam on the river.

Nickajack is hit or miss at best. Water levels and current flow will play a huge part and they can and do drop it often. Get the TVA app for your phone and watch it faithfully before you plan a trip. Your best days will be when they are generating 40K or higher in current flow. If they arent pulling current its like the dead sea.

More like 25-30 K on flow to catch fish but you better have a very strong TM to fish up near the dam or find eddy water pocket edges to fish. Once past downtown you should have no problem fishing anywhere.
