Well here I am with interference problems

Well hooked up my helix 10 on the bow... and I have interference with the trolling motor. What to do? I have my wiring ran directly from the battery to the graph.

I’ve taken the transducer off the mount and tried it ( read where it fixed the problem for one guy) well it didn’t help me. I ran a ground from the lower unit back to the cranking battery and that didn’t do anything.

And the guy I bought the graph from had it mounted on his trolling motor and had no issues.

Are you testing the possible fixes on the trailer or water?

Gonna need to put the boat in the water to know for sure. The water adds an additional grounding element. The units may show interference out of water but once in the water its gone. It can work the other way also, no rfi on trailer but it may be present in the water. I found this out the hard way myself

Good catch ntslam. I too chased my tail long ago trying to get rid of RFI not on the water! 21xd, Put it in the lake before you even bother to call HB. Until you do you won't know if you have a problem.

If you're using the tear drop shaped transducer at the bow its the wrong one. That one isn't shielded for the trolling motor. Unfortunately its the one that comes in the box and after you open it Humminbird won't exchange it. I think you need either the XTM 9 DI 25T or the XTM 9 WIDE 20T. Its the box looking one. Also, if you contact Humminbird they'll send out 2 other parts to help with the problem. Hope this helps I know its frustrating

I extended my power chord with paver electronics wire that had 2 different wires each in their own heavy insulated sheilds with a insulated shield around them & soldered & heat shrinked every connection & have never had the least bit of interference. I had a little bit before doing this though.

So if I am using the stock ducer (XNT 9 DI T) that came with my gen 1 Helix 12 di chirp on my tm that may be my interference problem?

Using the proper one for the application may or may not resolve your RFI issue, but you started with the wrong transducer.

I have 2 XTM 9 SI 180T transducers laying around. I realize they are for SI units but will the DI part of the ducer work with my gen1 Helix 12 di chirp? If not which transducer should I buy? Thanks
