Remote starter being jammed in the driveway

okay guys I've come to the peak of frustration. I've had remote starters in my vehicles for many years. Last weekend, They both stopped working in the driveway. I go 150 yrds up the road (with either car/truck) and it works. They are 2 different manufacurers (one Honda and one Ford). I drove around the neighborhood and tested the distance and its coming from somewhere to the south of our location. Remote starters operate at 315mhz. Something is jamming the signal. My wife's car can not even turn on the alarm. I checked with a couple neighbors and they have added nothing new that would interfere with the RF. Any suggestions?

I'm going to call the FCC on Friday.
    Thanks guys

From what I have read,it seems as though some wifi surveillance cameras will interfere with some remote starters.
Some factory remotes run on 434 mhz also

Saw this post online with 434 mhz stuff.

Well just sorted the problem, i traced it to a low battery in the garage wireless alarm sensor!! it was pullsing a red light to warn of low battery when it acitvated, changed the battery and everything is ok.

So if you or any neighbours have a wireless alarm system get the sensor batterys checked.

Thank you Tyler, I'll ask the neighbors if they have alarms. As I understood, in the US we use 315mhz and in europe it is 434mhz for car remote starters. I'll be looking into that more.

It could be something that doesn't normally operate in the band the remote starter does which is emitting broadband noise. Anything that arcs or sparks is a broadband transmitter and can jam a low power setup like a remote starter. A DC motor would be a prime candidate with brush noise.

It could be an RF source in a different band that just has enough power that it's desensitizing the front end of the receiver in your car. Think of trying to carry on a conversation at a loud party.

Odds are it is either a hulking beast of a transmitter like a radio station, or it is very, very close. RF power falls off very rapidly with distance. A source 20ft from the car gets only 25% of the power to the starter as one that is 10ft away. Roughly if the other source was 100ft away, it would only be putting 1/10 as much power on the receiver antenna as a remote with the same output that is 10ft away. Look at things that are very close to your car.

Your tire pressure monitors in your tires broadcast at either 315 or 434 MHz one or the other depending what the manufacturers picked ... wouldn’t think that would interfere but it’s odd they use the same MHz broadcast

So here is the latest update. No alarm systems in the immediate area. new or otherwise. According to Dept of Corrections, there is no one near me wearing an ankle monitor. (and yes I cut mine off to make sure I wasn't the problem.) They too operate at a very close MHZ. I do have a radio tower nearby. After some researching, I can find no filing done by them making any mention of changes or upgrades. We have repeatedly stopped by and called and no one answers. It is an AM station and I guess everything is preprogrammed. I have gotten closer to the tower and my remote starter will work there.

Thanks for the assistance people. this "riddle" will hopefully get solved.
