    Looking for your opinion

I have an 18'9 aluminum mod v with a 115 pro xs four stroke. I currently have a spitfire x7 aluminum 19p and I'm hitting 52 mph at around 6100 rpm. What stainless props do you all suggest I try when I do decide to upgrade? I want more top end speed and I'm not super worried about hole shot because it is not an issue now. (I don't want to lose much on the hole shot though either) In the spring I will be installing a 6' rapid jack as well.
    Suggestions? Thanks

Which prop do you have a Spitfire or a Spitfire X7? A regular Spitfire is aluminum and an X7 is stainless steel thats made with X7 alloy.

I think your 115 HP motor is tapped out on speed (52 MPH).

Almost 19 foot aluminum with 115, 52 GPS would be awesome but not likely.

It's got to be speedo because that motor has a 2.38 gear case and a 19" anything at 6100 won't get 52. A 2.07 lower won't do it either.

It was gps. Should've taken a picture I guess for the skeptics . My RPM number may be a little inaccurate. 6100 pops into my head when I try to remember but I only got to take the boat out a few times before winter. If it wasn't that then it was higher. I recall looking at the gauge and seeing that it wasn't hitting the limit which would be 6300. It is the spitfire aluminum prop, sorry for the confusion, and the boat definitely was not "tournament loaded" I don't keep that much stuff in it.

There ya go. I had a 14 foot semi-vee hull Lowe with a 55 HP Suzuki that would fly (in a straight line). Speedo said 55. It was actually pretty darn quick.

    Update on this:

Had the boat out for the first time this season and with all my gear, 2 power-poles, and my partner, I was only getting like 5500 rpms. This means I should go down to a 17p right? Especially if I get the x7 since it won't flex?

How fast was it going today at WOT? Did you install the jack plate yet?

My neighbor had a 18.5 ft Xpress with a 115 Yamaha and a 6" jackplate. He could bump 54 mph on my gps. He did not have a gps on his boat. We saw each other at the lake one day and he ask if I would check his speed because I had gps. We ran side by side for a long ways and he was steadily running 53-54 by my gps. Looking at the hull of the Lund Renegade series I could see it doing 52 mph. I want to say he ran a 20 or 22 stainless steel prop but I am not sure of pitch and have no idea what brand. It was whatever they rigged on his Yamaha when it came from Xpress.

I didn't end up putting the jack plate on for a couple reasons, one, it didn't work with my power pole brackets, and two, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to fit it in the garage with the added length. With the added weight, and extra person, it was topping out at 47. I think it is capable of a little more since the rpms were down so low.
