You can agree or disagree with JM on what he is doing with the boat lines but he did initiate a fund for all the workers that would loose their jobs due to the consolidation of brands. He is asking all the executives to contribute $$ to tide the workers over until they find new jobs. Not many corporations or execs would do that for employees that were not management.

Some here have called him evil for that gesture too. Things will change but how much and how soon is still to be determined. I would be concerned since Mako used to have a similar reputation and now they are the Nitro of center consoles.

Yeah I don’t understand all the jm hate. I just bought my first fiberglass boat. 2018 ranger z185. I absolutely love it and the owner of ranger boats had no bearing on my purchase. I looked at all brands and researched for almost a year. I bought ranger b/c I feel like it offered the best boat at my price range.

Agreed, I too researched and looked at boats for about a year and now have a Z185 on order.

I have a pre-JM Ranger 518. Buddy just bought a new 518 ... post-JM. I've looked under, over, around and through his boat and I swear there's absolutely no difference! Mine does have a water temp sensor built into the step that his doesn't have, but I'm not sure if that was part of my package or standard. His has a fancier winch than mine and I may have to get me one ... it's pretty slick.

They can cut corners for a while and it will still be the best boat made.

From what I see no corners have been cut. JM will keep a broad price range on his line of boats. That's just business and good business.

Maybe someone with some insight on the Ranger production floor can confirm, but wouldn't be possible for JM to change anything in the manufacturing process this quickly without a significant output decrease. In the future though no one knows. There's a reason a Nitro and Ranger are different, and if JM feels the Nitro process is better and cheaper you will most definitely see some standardization across brands in coming years. I'll be getting my 02 refinished, rewired and repowered until she doesn't float any longer because one thing is for sure they aren't going to get any better than their current status of the best.

Jeremy, Your wording is exceptional. ................It is used so often here on BBC that it's almost the norm it seems.......................It is "Not" the norm here on this board, and I for one (and many others also here I would imagine) do not appreciate the general (kool-aid) comment.........................You are welcome here brother, but I can assure you that phrase will not be allowed here. This one "will" probably get off track soon and I will shut it off. For now I will leave it up and see how it goes. Please keep on track and play nice gentlemen. ........................Thanks, Roger Rose

I agree and a few thoughts.

The Z185 was designed specifically to hit a lower price point. I don't know for sure, but I bet JM had something to do with that. Nitro quality has really been good and getting better. I believe Ranger will always be a super high quality boat because that is why people buy them. JM is not going to change that. Are they going to be just like every other company and look for ways to save some money. yes they will.

It appears to me that JM has a boat company that is able to please the majority of customers. I doubt very much he is going to detract from that. In my eyes, he doesn't need to because all of his boat companies are selling lots of boats...to the market they were intended for.
