St croix avid, 6'6 medium is what I use, but I'm usually fishing 1/8th ounce heads. ss1300 daiwa reel, 10-14lb fireline with a 6-8lb leader.

I use a Loomis 6'10" Med hvy-fast with a Shimano Stradic 2500 reel. I like yellow 10Lb. Power Pro braid tied to an 8-10lb Seaguar Invizx leader. Works for me for both shaky head and drop shot applications. I use yellow braid as main line for visibility purposes, my eues arent as sharp as they used to be!

Take a look at the Fenwick Elite Tech Bass spinning rods. I have the 7'4" Medium XFast (up to 12lb test line rated) with a Stradic Ci4+ 2500. Rated for 1/8 - 3/4 oz lures. The extra fast tip allows me to cast a long way, but is not so stiff to rip the hook out of the fishes mouth...Plenty of backbone in the lower 2/3 rds of the rod. I tried it out yesterday for the first time...IMO, one of the most sensitive rods I've ever owned, and they are only $150. I could feel the VERY light pickup of a 2.5lb bass, and every pebble on the bottom. Fenwick has a variety of choices in that line.

This rod is the best I've owned. Great for shakey heads, wacky rigs, and drop shots.
