Once you get the settings set up. How often do you need to access the menu to change stuff on the Helix? I'm leaning towards the Solix because of the touchscreen.

    Why Helix over Solix?

I am getting ready to order 2 display units to rig on my new boat and was assuming Solix 15". I have an Ulterra, 2 Talons, and I am planning on installing a 360 transducer.

Are there some issues with the Solix units or lack a capability?

The OP said "Mainly looking for simplicity and fish less than 40’. Which is the better for someone that’s not an electronics guru". Solix is not simple. It is extremely flexible and in turn a bit more complicated. It requires the user to get involved with the setup and operation deeper than the Helix unit. Some do not want to have their face in a manual to learn all the ins and outs. I own a Solix and like the involvement of customizing all the features. Many do not want to get that involved. Bob

i just sold a boat with helix and purchased a boat with solix ,little more complicated than helix but if you are not familiar with either i would buy the solix i think it will be easier to use after you learn it than the helix and it will take time to learn either one. lots of things you can do with solix , like build your own views, share map cards, share heading sensor and more, i have only been 3 days on solix not there yet but learning
