    Fish Replicas

Caught this monster the other night jigging hair jigs for walleye! I got great pictures and released her but am looking at getting a replica made. Unfortunately I don’t have girth measurements (anyone have a good guess) but am looking for recommendations on places to get a replica made. Pike is 41” so should be able to have it shipped, meaning local is not necessary just nice.

I believe that there is a standard formula for figuring the girth if you know the length. The replica form that your taxidermist will use will likely come with those dimensions. But, call your taxidermist and ask.

That's a great fish under any circumstances. I can't imagine trying to squeeze it through the ice hole!

My buddy Erik Frank has been doing taxidermy since we were kids. He just started doing replicas but he is the best damn painter I know. Look him up on Facebook by name or he also has a business page on there, Hardcore Customs. Crazy good.

If he was as big as the 8” hole in the ice, then his circumference is 3.14 x 8 = 25.12”

If he was smaller than the hole. estimate his diameter based on the hole size and multiply that by 3.14.

Another for Joe Fittante, he did a 42 inch 22 pounder for me. Turned out great.
