    Console HDS 12 Installation

Guys, I just bought a 12” HDS Gen 3 to replace the HDS 9 Gen 3 that my boat came with. Any tips for enlarging the hole in the console would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Unless your really set on Flush mounting.. I'd suggest a Presicion Sonar or Bass boat Technologies mount.

Don't like my flush mounted graphs. Only plus is they take a few additional minutes to steal.

You lose adjustability as well when it's flush mounted...just another thought.

The precision mount put the electronics at a better position to use when running in my opinion. Especially on the newer z models.

I tried using mine when they are flush mounted . It was hard to see and use . Made my own mount to move my HDS and make it more accessible..

To answer your question, I had to do this a while back and bought an oscilating multitool to do the job. It made short work of the project and any dust made fell straight down rather than coating everything in sight. Definitely the best tool for the job.

You'll hate flush mounting! When the sun has glare on it you cannot move it it's fixed

Have you guys ever considered that he is fine with the viewability of his current setup and would simply like to mount his new larger unit in the same place? He didn't ask for mounting advice. Simply how to cut the hole. Geesh!

This is like someone asking for prop advice for his SHO and the entire place suggesting he dump it for a G2.

Mine is flush mounted and I have no problem seeing it. I would not flush mount on front panel at all.

I wound up going with the precision sonar mount, and couldn’t be happier that I did. View ability and ergonomics are much better than with my in console mounted HDS-9.
