Depends if you want cable or electric steer. Lots of room in the z8s for another battery if you decide to step it up. I went from a motor guide to a fortrex and now just got the ultrex.

If I remember right, the older Nitro's has a recess that narrows at the back making it hard for the footpedal to fit. If you go with the Ultrex, you may be able to elevate the foot pedal some (seems like the recess is shallow anyway) to allow it to fit. I agree the 80# Ultrex would be the Ultimate upgrade, but if you're worried about the foot pedal recess, the 80# Maxxum or Fortrex uses the same foot pedal as you 70#. Call me if I can help. I ship to your door.

Yes sir. Last year, in a pinch I used a 2"x8", painted it black and trimmed it to fit. Then screwed the pedal to it.

thanks guys, for the input I think I may just go with the fortrex for now. I may do the ultrex deal later, I keep the dowco cover on my boat every minute its not in the water, ive heard that it may not work with the ultrex... also ive talked to service departments at 2 different bass pro shops and was told they were having a lot of issues with the ultrex..
