Try 50 lb pline tcb8 braid with a 20 lb flouro leader. This setup works well skipping docks. Braid is much lighter so the spool doesn’t have as much momentum when turning so it doesn’t backlash as much. And migh try 65lb braid as well. The bigger braid is better for skipping and jig fishing because it is bigger and doesn’t dig into itself as bad. Braid has a tendency to peel off of the spool instead of flying off of the spool. Which helps with skipping. Main lake is Norman so skipping is one of the main games here so it’s fairly critical to get the most out of every cast and I do it best with braid. But Louie Hull who makes shooter jigs uses 20 lb izorline. So everyone has their personal preference. Just make sure whatever you use to check your line often for nicks and abrasions.
Also when you first start use a good lead jig like a shooter or er jig. The reason is you will hit the dock and floats and lead takes a beating better than tungsten. But man can you feel ever thing with the tungsten. A good trailer to learn skipping is a reaction innovations beaver or smally beaver the wide body gives a bigger surface to skip across the water.
Hope this helps.
