    help if you can

I bought a new "Fill / Empty / Recirculate" Valves. Now when I go to fill the left side it takes forever to fill everything else works. What did I do wrong?

I sounds like the left side pump isn't working.

Oh I when I set it to recir. it does fine. Could it be that the valve is not opening all the way.

They are directional, however, the first question -- you say on recirc it pumps OK. Do you mean it has a strong spray/stream and on "fill" it is slow. Are you saying the stream/spray is slow or the time it takes to fill up is slow. I guess I'm asking is "if" the spray/stream is the same on both fill and recirc?

    Yes

The spray stream on fill is slow and takes a while to fill. On recir. the stream is strong.

sounds like it may not be opening all the way in the fill position.

I'm there. -1 this morning, no boat, too cold to work, wife in a bad mood, dogs wanting to go for a walk---oh the despair.

I do wish I could offer advice as to what is wrong with the OP's boat, so there's that.

I'm sure you've already looked, but make sure the valve is moving when you move the actuator. Sounds like it is stuck in the recirc position. Also make sure you have it placed correctly with the fill side to the hose coming off the transom and you have the cable going in from the correct side. Some valves are for front entry cable and some for rear entry cable. These valves work by using a "flapper" inside to cover the intakes. When in recirc, the recirc side is opened and the fill side is closed, however water pressure on the valve will allow some water inside the resevoir. When in fill, the fill side opens and closes the recirc side. the water pressure coming in is equal to or more than the water pressure on the recirc side so it keeps that valve closed.
