    Tilt trim rebuild or replace?

So I have had a leak on the trim for a little while and really need to get it fixed.
Should I have it rebuilt or buy a new one? It was original to the boat an 88. And now it sitting under. A

Please see the Forum Announcements, and be sure to provide the REQUIRED info. Thanks!

If you can, please read your post and clarify. Your post reads like you have the same tilt/trim on your 175 Optimax that was on a 1988 engine previously. Not likely the case... can you confirm?

Pasco marine and five star marine both rebuild trim and tilt units. $430.00
Both are located in Florida. Ship it to them and they ship you back your unit completely looking and working like new.

Yes sorry about not putting the specifics in it.
But is a rebuilt motor and the mid section is from a 135 serial #1B02663.
And it is a 3 wire system.

Im not so sure on the 3 wire question.
There are a total of 3 wires from the unit, there Is a double wire that goes to the motor and then one that runs to the ground and appears to be a ground.
I can post pictures after work to confirm

Probably a good idea to post a picture- that serial number would not have used a 3-wire system (though one would physically fit in there, if someone was putting together pieces and parts left over from various motors or something).

Ended up being a two wire system. The 3rd wire was a ground strap that just ran along the other two wires. I ended up finding a shop that rebuilds trim units. Got one out the door shipped for 360$ with a 2 year warranty!
Now just waiting for it to arrive in the mail
