I have a raised cover on my Ranger and thinking of having it converted to a low profile for better towing capabilities.
Anyone done this? Is it a good idea or no?

Why do you need a cover for towing? You travel a lot and far?

I don't think it would be worth the expense, imo. I've had both, my lay flat cover would still "balloon" in the back, blocking visibility nearly as much as the seats in cover.
I only use a cover when towing when it's inclimet weather or gravel roads. But sure would be nice to not have a sail on top the boat. I don't tow fast or anything, I just wanna keep the interior clean if roads are not.

I have owned both and there is quite a bit of difference in towing with the two covers. The flat cover is 100% better. Sell your old cover on eBay and buy a new cover from Ranger

Will be cheaper to just sell your cover and buy new, promise you that!!
Good condition? I want a raised cover

Do the flat covers retain rain water?

The two flat will collect water. If you can put the pro pole seat in the seat hole in the step down it will prop it up in the middle and help. My 521 doesn’t have one tho

When I was co sidering ordering a new boat, I asked around and the one reason the guys with the high covers went that route was water sitting on the cover. The flat ones will allow it to pool as stated above. For me, I rarely tow with a cover so it really only matters when it’s being stored outside.
If you put that flat cover on right it shouldn’t pool water much at all!
The flat cover is a pita IMO. You have to take out 2 seats (and then put them back) every time you use it. I use my cover often so the raised is better for me.

I have had flat covers for years. I've never had an issue with them holding water when put on correctly.
I have had both and prefer the flat cover. If the roads are wet or there is a slight chance of rain when towing, the cover is on,. I just hate the road grime coating the interior and getting in the carpet.
