    Deck padding

Has anyone recarpeted and used the deck padding? Was it worth it and does it weigh enough to make any performance difference on the front deck on the wider hulls?
    What thickness is best?

I am currently in the process, ordered padding from pro-tech mat yesterday, I/4" thickness, going to add 47# of weight, I myself don't think it will make any difference, as far as will it be worth it, I think my feet, knees, and back will be much happier.

I would think 47 lbs would be carpet and padding on the entire front deck.

I padded the front & rear deck on my 196. I'd be hard pressed to say I lost 1 mph or any lift.

Yes. Love it! I don't think my motor cares it's there. but I sure do. 1/4 inch I believe.. don't over complicate it. Get some mold resistant mat and lay it down..

It weighs very little and the comfort is well worth the minimum in speed loss.

My mistake, they show 2.7 lbs per foot x 42” wide of the pad, Not sure what I was thinking. Lol

Did you pad your rod boxes also, if so I assume you cut your pad straight off with edge of the lids??

That was my next question! I would also think you have to do everything on the deck or it wont look right!?

I cut all my edges on an angle to make an easier transition when it comes time to carpet. I glued it down first an then used carpet knife blades to cut my angle around the edges, pretty easy to do with the pro tech mat material.
Did the entire boat front and rear deck and the floor...dam comfortable with bear feet.

I've got a padded front deck and can't say it makes a bit of difference... But I don't have a bad back, knee or foot problems either... And I not sold on the recessed foot pedal either... Dan

I’d say you are in good shape then if you have none of those issues,

If you are asking about the lids to the rod boxes, then yes. You just have to angle cut the edges or the lids won't stay open. (if they open at all)
