1980's 200 merc

Hi, I recently picked up what I think is a 1987 V200 V6 200. It is carbureted. The serial number plate is missing and I was wondering if there is another way to find one on the motor somewhere

should be a whelsh plug top of block stbd side,bout size of quarter
