added 360 and power poles and lost hole shot

I have an 05 ranger z-20 with 225 etec ho. I was getting a good hole shot with a razor 3 26 and a raker 2 26; I added a 360 and 2- 8-foot power poles to the transom and lost my hole shot. I ended up with a tempest plus 3 by 25 to finally get a good hole shot, but lost some top end. any body else experience this and what did you do to get your hole shot and top end speed back? would a 4 blade prop do it and which one ?

Yep......poles (anchors) will cost you 2-4 MPH. You won't get the speed back.

4 blade will improve hole shot, but not top end speed. As with any propping situation, the right 4 blade makes a difference, too, as most will improve hole shot over a 3 blade but most will also be slower on top end than a 3 blade. A 4 blade that improves hole shot and doesn’t lose you much, if any, top end compared to the 25 Tempest should be your goal. I have never driven a Z20, so won’t hazard a specific recommendation, but a Fury 4 in 24” might be a good place to start.
