New Question 1990 150 evinrude oil

I have only run the xd 30 oil in this engine. Is it possible to run synthetic in this engine like 100xd? I was told that it would eliminate the carbon build up. I am not sure this engine can run synthetic oil.
    Thanks

XD 100 is the best oil you can run in any engine.

This is a pretty old motor, wasnt sure what it would do if I changed oil to something other than it has been running.

As has been stated...the xd 50 has the carb x additive that the xd 100 has, only it's a synthetic blend and more cost efficient than the xd 100, but still requires you to decarb once a year. With the xd 100 you do not have to decarb....but less cost efficient on the carb engines....Changing the oil dosen't hurt anything IF it's an upgrade. The reason the xd 50 is recommended for the carb engine is the xd 100 is more costly for the carb engines....
