added 360 and powerpoles and lost my hole shot

I have an 05 ranger z-20 with 225 etec ho. I was getting a good hole shot with a razor 3 26 and a raker 2 26; I added a 360 and 2- 8-foot power poles to the transom and lost my hole shot. I ended up with a tempest plus 3 by 25 to finally get a good hole shot, but lost some top end. any body else experience this and what did you do to get your hole shot and top end speed back? would a 4 blade prop do it and which one ?

DUH, ad weight to transom and loose old setup.

well guys. the poles allowed me to stay off the trolling motor and not spook the smallies. had a limit in an hour and won a trmt. other boats in the area using trolling motor spooked the fish and they got zilch.

Make sure the poles aren’t dragging excessively in the water during holeshot.

It’s a trade off of having extra weight on the transom. Other than what was posted above, you get to live with it.

For sure since you can only anchor at HALF the depth....

I anchor solid at 8' or less and spot lock deeper.

yep. have the same experience my self. sounds like you gave up 2-3mph to win a tournament.

But if you want to spend the money you can go with lithium batteries and lose that weight again.

id take the tradeoff anyday, i have a customer now went with a 80lb ultrex and he has talons..he wants to go to a 112 with a 36 volt system. cant afford to go lithium and the 112 ultrex so selling off the talons will be able to add the 3rd battery and add the Blades and still will come out lighter then he was with the 24 volt and the talons. wasnt totally unhappy with the Talons, however wasnt pleased with the weight and this route adding the 3rd battery and Blades and coming out the same to tad lighter was a no brainer for him.

Put a 24 on it get your hole shot back as you have found out you don’t have to go 100 to win a tournament.
