    Lower unit oil question.

Just drained the lower unit and saw this. Is this an issue? Have not done this before and not sure what I am seeing is normal or is it a water issue.

Looks like it has water in it . (milky ) When was the last time you change it . I would drain and put new lube in . The next time out ,after the trip .drain a tad and see if it has change . IF not it time to test for water coming in (seals ) ? Drain and air gasket gaskets .

If it isn't all like that, then I usually change the rings on the screws, refill, and check it after a few trips. If it is all milky then you have a bad seal. Milky oil is a sign of water getting in.

You can buy them but there is usually a set included with the water pump kit.

Any dealer that carries your brand of motor will have them. You can also probably buy them on Amazon or Ebay.

Any dealer should have them. If your motor is a Mercury, the older motors used the blue ones and the newer motor's used the yellow one's.
