Running 36v mg tour on 24v.

I got several 36v tour editions and I want to run one on 24v for a smaller boat. Can I do that?

You can, but I am not sure it will last. you could end up burning the armature with continuous 24 volt use. It will also cause high current on the wires and even may cause the insulation on the wires to melt.

Ask John Jones. Some motors are fine with it.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

Some control boards work on 12/24, but I don't know about 24/36. What you don't have in voltage you make up with current and current causes heat. I do know many motors are run until the batteries are so worn down (low voltage) they just won't work any more, and it doesn't seem to hurt them.

Stretch, you can if they are digital. However, they won't be efficient. The low voltage will cause a high current through the armature and can cause problems. Also, could cause problems with the wiring and connections, depending on what is used.
