Just bought my first Bird. Wondering if the fortrex 112 (45") is long enough. Do you ever get blow out in the wind (open water)? Coming from a Champion 210, an a 52 inch Foretrex.

45" for me on a 921. I don't fish big water often, but when I did, it got the job done.
52 for me but I spend a lot of time on rough water chasing Brown fish.

With all these guys falling off their boats recently it has me thinking about a 80 instead of the 112 motor, maybe the 80 wont be so jerky when on spot lock even set on -2.
I have a full season on my Ultrex and can tell you that corrections when on spotlock are SMOOTH. Not at all jerky and in fact I think it does a better job of making smoother corrections than a person ever could. Also if you want less power just dial the 112 down and you’ll be more efficient with your 36v batteries vs a 24 volt system.

There are lots Of posts and threads with people asking how to turn the ultrex down. So I’m not the only one who is nearly tossed regularly. Maybe it’s because I’m 170#. Haha

My 45 Fortrex has a lot of room to go deeper. In fact I have to stick it was up in the air to get into really skinny water. Keep in mind there is 240 lbs of me on the front of my 721.

If your going to be fishing Rayburn all the time and other lakes that can get rough then get the 52. I don’t think you can turn the spot lock setting down. Of course you can tune the setting down on the wheel but im pretty sure that does not control the spotlock speed. Once you start drifting off the spot the motor goes to what t power it needs to get you locked back on the spot. Ultrex is the best addition I’ve had on my boat ever but it can jolt you and get you off balance if you don’t have a wide stance on rare occasions. If there is a setting to turn it down then I’d like to hear it bc the power wheel does not do it.
