Should i re-torque prop nut if it isn’t loose?

2015 Yamaha 250 SHO. Prop nut was loose a couple of times after installing a new thrust washer. Last time I ran it a couple of days ago, the prop nut was not loose. Should I remove the cotter key and re-torque the prop nut? I am just plan on running it and check the nut each time by hand to see if it is loose.

Yes, I would re-torque even if it is not loose. If it didn't need any additional torquing then I would feel good about not checking it for a while.

Thanks. I agree if I torque the nut again and it hasn’t changed, I can feel good about not checking it for a while.

he is running a cotter pin, loctite would not apply to that situation, its getting loose from the new thrust washer seating on a tapered shaft, torquing to specs and re applying the pin is correct

Just re-torqued the prop nut and it hadn’t changed.
