Praying High end baitcaster that I can finger?

Hope my wife doesn’t read this! Trying to find an 8:1 baitcaster that I can easily get my index finger around and under the line. I love shimanos but I can’t reach around the I’s - have yet to try the new K’s which are smaller. THe Daiwas Steez I believe are a little shorter in the front - anyone have a recommendation?

You mention Shimano and Daiwa, so I figured you’re leaning that way. But, Lew’s new Super Duty reel is smaller than my older model SD reels. Really easy to palm. Just an FYI.

I'm challenged to answer. Everyone holds a reel differently. I have my trigger finger under my line with plastic. Met MGL 8:1 is best reel I've ever fished.

I have a couple Metaniums - they are too long. I have a buddy the fishes with all shimanos Mets but uses daiwa steez just on his pitching rods for this reason. The 70 may work but I haven’t put one in my hands yet.

Another vote for the Curado 70. I have been really impressed with the versatility of that reel.

While I dont consider the 70 to be high-end it is a very fine reel.
Stay away from t-wing systems, or at least take note, if you put your finger under the line coming in near the levelwind. It can cause the line to come out of the t-wing slot jacking the line lay on the spool.
High-end go Aldebaran for small frame.

I have really been tempted to try the Daiwas and the T wing due to how easily they skip - will keep an eye on that issue. I did spend the day with Feider last year and he didn't have any problem with that.

TW has the non-TWing Steez SVs 8.1's on closeout for $350.

50 size Shimano or Daiwa Alphas platform. The Steez SV TW is a very close runner up.
