Just bought a new truck camper today!

After many hours of research and figuring this and figuring that, I finally pulled the trigger. The main use of this camper will be for weekend trips with only me in the mix. My 2002 Silverado 1500 only has about 1,500 lbs of payload to work with and I did not want to push that.

For the price this will work.

Nice Enjoy....Take a trip to Blue Mesa Res in Gunnison CO this summer and get into some good Kokanee salmon fishing and break that new camper in.

They appear to make the purchase easy. And options look reasonably priced. Unless your 1/2 ton truck has Max Tow and RV options, you might do well to add an auxiliary tranny cooler and rear air bags.

It has the tow package with an additional leaf and tranny cooler. GVWR is 6,200. Took it to the scales and it weighted 4,900 with me and a full tank of gas. So about 1,300 payload. But the real axle GAWR is 3,686 and weight is 1,900, so 1,786 payload there. Research indicates even fairly conservative rv'ers will not worrying about exceeding GVWR by a small margin as long as they are under the GAWR. The camper should weigh about 850lbs fully loaded, so no worries. I am curious how it will sit on the back. If I will have much sag or not.

Oh heck yeah I can pull a boat. That is one important feature of a truck camper vs a travel trailer or fifth wheel. I don't care to venture into tandem trailing both.

The tongue weight on my boat will not put me close to payload capacity, so no issues. Got a new Crestliner Retriever SC 1660 coming, boat itself only weighs 680 lbs. This will be my weekend get-away rig.

Thanks for the info. You really did your research and it appears that it paid off. Nice looking travel apartment. Lets see a picture of the two when all completed.
