    Ram Mount Upgrade

I have a HDS 12 on a ram mount and want to upgrade to a aluminum mount.
The ram mount now always sags and is hard to tighten enough for it not to move.
What mounts do you guys recommend, do's and dont's.
    Thanks

Have you tried the E size with 3.38" ball?

Console or bow? Ram Single Swing Arm mount at the console, Precision Sonar at the bow. My graphs never move.

My Rams sag too, especially in rough water. Hate them now!

Make your own out of thick aluminum. There’s metal yards that will let you pick from a drop pile.
Kong and Balzout. Are good but expensive.

I've got the same as BobG above. The Ram swing is solid as I would ever want. Larry

My silly RAM ball mounts don't sag, but then again.... not running 12"er's.

That RAM swing looks really solid.

Of course you could always go with the KVD Kong @ (only) $380!

Ram Single Swing Arm mount is less than $70. I don't know anyone on BBC that installed one and had an unstable graph.

Are you using the tool that you can buy to tighten it up. I use it and mine don't move. You can't tighten it by hand enough for it not to move in real rough water conditions.

I’m sure those other mounts are great, but here is what I did since I already have a Ram Mount. I just used a metal L bracket. I set the graph where I wanted & cut the L bracket to the length I wanted. I drilled a hole so it could go under the handle. I also added a rubber stopper under the bracket with a 1/4” bolt. I recessed the hole in the stopper so the bolt would not make contact with the deck. I just need to cut off the excess, round the edges and paint it. My 15” Solix doesn’t even budge now and that’s on a rough day at Toledo Bend.

I had a 9" Lowrance on a Ram swing arm mount. Loved it. Liked that I could remove the large nut and remove the unit for storage. Trying to figure out how to mount one on the sloping built in area at the bow. Want it parallel to the deck do I can swing it away from the trolling motor foot pedal.
