Triton fixed it on my TR196 by sticking the black diamond stuff in that area. Problem solved.

Polish it out with an orbital and have clear shield installed. Same stuff they use on car hoods to protect the paint.

Just bought 2 4"x12" gator gaurd non slip steps to cut out and put back there on my 2011 721. Once it warms up I'll post some pics when I get it installed. Glad to know yo can shorten the rigging tube up without having to undo all the wiring, hoses etc going through it! This is why I check BBC nightly.

Yep, scratched too deep to wet sand and buff out. I’m going to shorten the tube and figure out a cover up. Solid boat, but details like this are pretty annoying.
I printed this picture out and glassed in in. Basically, it stopped all problems.

I made a template and order a piece from sea deck to put down where it rubbed. After polishing the rub out.
Guys just a thought, the hose should not be touching the splash well while out fishing right? So why wouldn't you just take a bath towel and wrap the tube two or three times while trailering down the highway? If you wrap the towel around the tube while the motor is down, make two or three wraps, then tilt the motor up the towel stays in place. That is what I do and it seems to work fine.
Has anybody figured out a way to prevent this besides cutting? I was thinking of using black duct tape or maybe even clear cellophane wrap.

My 09 721 is done the exact same way.
Beside adding those extra things to the splashwell, probably the best thing to do is cut the hose and make it shorter.....on my 619 the hose actually wore groves in the gel coat, i cut about 2" off the hose but it still rubbed a little, then the hose broke at the motor, i cut that piece off (about 3") and it no longer touches the splashwell.
If one cuts the hose i'd advise on cutting a little bit at a time until you get it right, not one big chunk and it be to short.

I used clear 3M tape for cars, cut a piece slightly larger the size of the area affected an bought some zip up neoperene like covers.
I thought about making the tubing shorter but it took me 5 minutes t put covers and tape on.....no more issues

Tim from phoenix sent me a piece of rubber that matches the rubber that's on my boat , just cut the shape you like and put where the hose is rubbing
If the tube is rubbing on the splashwell chances are at some point sheza gonna split at the motor. Mine split recently and I took a good 4/5 inches off and it works way better. I think they install them with a lot of extra tube. I did it three times until I found the best way. It can be tough getting the hose onto the threads of the cowling adapter. I tried unhooking both ends, the transom end, and the cowling end. I think the cowling end and removing the adapter, threading it back onto the hose is better. I had a tough time threading it on. I reached a finger inside the adapter and located the end of the threads on the inside of the adapter. Then just worked the adapter back and forth until the threads engaged.
You can unhook the transom side and try to rotate the whole tube but it ain't easy.
