Thinking about getting a Fortrex and doing away with motor guide x5. Had to replace cables on x5 and not even 7 months old. Is MinnKota better then motor guide.

That like asking if a Ford is better than a Chevy -- you're going to get all kinds of replies/suggestions. I work on (am an authorized service center and dealer) both, sell both, see the good and bad in each and can tell you that I run a MinnKota on my boat.
