Mercury Optimax/ smartcraft install??

I have a 2008 Mercury Optimax 150. I am interested in installing a smartcraft gauge to monitor engine temp mostly but the other options will be nice also. So my question is will the older square monitor version (found online for 180$) plug right into my Optimax or will I need other harnesses and such to install?

If you don't already have the Smartcraft harness you'll need one and possible some other items too. Do yourself a favor and foloow Joe's advice from the Mercury forum - contact European Marine and get MercMonitor. JMHO, with an Optimax you need to be able watch water pressure and temp at same time and you cannot do that with a system monitor.
