Suggestion on prop for 200 Suzuki SS on a 2000 Ranger 518 VX?

I'm trying to help a friend and am honestly curious to see how this motor runs. I have heard good things about them. He has a 2000 Ranger 518VX and just bought a 200 Suzuki SS for it. He's pulling way too many RPMs with a fury 26 three blade and his local shop is going to try a 28 four blade fury. I'm not sure what his prop to pad measurement is as the shop just put the motor in the same holes as the evenrude he was replacing. I'll get that measurement soon. Just seeing if anyone has good info on that prop would be a good start and whats the optimal prop to pad with no jack plate.

Didn't know that Suzuki made a 200 SS unless it's just a regular 200. Regardless, if I remember correctly, the Fury prop line only goes up to 27P for the 3 blades and 26P for the 4 blades. If you want higher pitched mercury props, you would need to get the Bravo I series. You can check here for some Suzuki Props.... http://hustlersport.com/t/df150/200a

Remember, if you can't find a prop with enough pitch, and I think the 4 blade 28 will have enough pitch, you can use a bigger diameter. I'm using a 24.5 pitch SS three blade on my 175DF but 16 inches in diameter on a 19'5" boat. It's close to perfect for me, I can still hit 6100 RPM, and I could use 25 more HP. The best thing is it was cheap and I'm a cheap guy.

I was going to suggest a 4 blade 25 pitch I saw on eBay but I just bought it, couldn't pass up the $215.00 price.

My boat's heavy and so am I at 270#. I think I only get to 55 MPH, but I seldom run it at 6000 RPM because I don't think it does it any good. Anyhow, I received the prop two or three days ago and haven't opened the box yet, and I have a flat on my trailer and the water here is frozen, so I'll let you know later if it gets better.
In my opinion, you should schmooze eBay with the noun Suzuki prop occasionally, and sometimes good deals pop up. This prop was advertised as a Suzuki racing stainless propeller.
Maybe the 4 blade will give me more bow lift and I can cruise faster, we'll see.

Well I tried out the 4 blade yesterday. It was pretty warm, in the 50's and the water was 39. After warming the engine slightly I accelerated to about 2500 and got some vibration.
I let it warm up some more and it seemed smoother. When I hammered it the hole shot was not too good, but it was easier to steer and smoother than my big 16 inch wheel. The RPM for given speed was about the same. This is a genuine Suzuki 4 blade 27 pitch 14 inch SS prop. After taking the boat out I noticed there was what appears to be too much clearance between the prop and L/U housing. Looks like I need a blowout ring before I can continue to accurately test this prop.
Probably put the 3 blade 24.5 by 16 inch prop back on for now.

Thanks. My friend went to a 28 pitch 4 blade and says it’s running much better. I’ll find out which one he got.

My results are going to be nonconclusive because of the excess clearance between the prop and L/U cavity. It will be like having too many relief holes in the prop too much exhaust going over the blades.
The prop I got is a 27 pitch 14&1/4 diameter 4 blade. The hub is smaller than I prefer on mine so I went back to my 16 inch diameter 3 blade 24.5 pitch.
If I get a prop blowout ring I'll try it again otherwise I'll probably sell it.

I just saw this post and I have the exact same Ranger and Suzuki. Has you friend settled in on the 4 blade 28p prop? I'm trying to decide now myself and I'm curious on the performance he is getting. Help greatly appreciated.

drejoh1972, if you do decide on a Suzuki 4 blade 28P prop, PM me... I have one that I might be selling... excellent condition, like new! I bought as a back up but think I'm going a different way for my back up.
