    Banded bluebill

I was hunting with a friend at his farm on the Meldahl Pool of Ohio River and managed to kill a banded bluebill. The bird was banded on 3-23-2013 in Havana, Illinois.

I have been pretty lucky when it comes to bands, but never thought I would get one off a bluebill.

    Congratulations.

But it doesn't look like you have room for another band.

    Congrats.

FowlZurk, that is an older bird. I shot a Drake Mallard once that was 12 years old.

Yes, an old warrior also. He had wound holes in his webbing, an obvious healed up scar across one breast.

I am amazed at the bands some have. I have never killed a banded duck. I have 5 goose bands, no duck bands, but that will change I hope.

I have been waterfowl hunting for 12 years now, that was my first duck band. I have been in on 2 quarter flips before. I killed a speckle belly goose band in Arkansas that was banded in Alaska.
One my buddies i got into waterfowl hunting with me about 5 years ago and we hunt 99% time together has already got 4 bands. 1 goose, 1 mallard, and 2 wood ducks.

You need to say I his front pocket if he has killed that many bands in that short of time.

Bands are about killing the right species and especially location. And then a bit of luck...

Awesome! My friend killed a banded bluebill 2 years ago, but it was a lesser. Yours looks like a greater based on size....?

Left Murray at 1:15 am this morning and headed to Nashville. Roads were terrible all the way to Cadiz. I can say I am glad I didn't meet anyone one the Barkley bridge. Flew yo Provo, Turks & Caicos. It was 85 degrees when we landed. So much for duck season... Worst part is I gave $72 dollars for a case of beer!
