Question 97 Evinrude 225 Vindicator rigging to 03 225HO FICHT Ram

Can I use the same rigging that's in place or is it different? The new to me motor will come with all the rigging, ie shifter, hotfoot, and wire harness. Model #E225STLEUD to Model #E225FHLSTA Thanks!

Either use the oil tank that comes with it or you'll need to purchase a section of hose to add to the new motor to your oil tank as they use a return line for oil not used by oil pump.

It's coming with the oil tank also. So otherwise everything else will work?

Well pulled the trigger so it will be a few weeks before I get the rest of the money to the guy. My question is I've used that homemade lift ring a few times before. Will it still be ok to use to lift the motor from the crate. Concerned about the stress on the angle coming up.

So how available are replacement injectors or capable of being rebuilt? Heard they are getting harder to find. I'm still getting this motor regardless.

DFI will do your injectors. www.marineengine.com has two available for $500 each one for each side. Crowley marine shows three dealers have may have them. Suggested list $922 each.

Eddie, you won't believe the difference between the two engines.....You WILL need a bigger prop! The DI engines literally sip fuel and oil compared to my old Vindicator.

I talked to a mech this weekend and he told me I'll have to up at least one pitch. I'm currently running a 25 Tempest. Thanks for everyone's input. Just wanted to make sure I did my homework.

I went to a 26 raker for long straight runs, 27 renegade for narrow winding creeks, hole shot wasn't the best with full livewells but I could turn them to 58-5900. I'm now running an 03 250 with the bravo 26 soon to be 27 and a bravo 28 in cooler weather....225ho and 250 in those years are the same engine....different badge....

I'm mostly running wide open lake like Rayburn, Toledo Bend. Have a friend with a 26 Raker 2, and another buddy that has a 26 Tempest may hit up.

Can't wait until St Johns to see how it performs, I remember how it ran with the 225 on the back.

In the props the 1" vent holes in the Bravos let the engine spin up to 4000 and then bite. Both my bravos are 4 blades...I even spun a 30 bravo on plane within 5 secs but couldn't turn it over 5200 with my BPS store in the rig. I'm going to let Mark drill the holes in my raker 26 and clean it up and see what i have.

Top end is about the same Fred, but those Bravo's woke the holeshot up.....especially with full fuel and livewells...
